This charming little palace overlooking Tbilisi belonged to Queen Darédjane, wife of King Irakli.

The other Metekhi monument rises above the Riké esplanade, used for official celebrations or concerts at festivals. It is the palace of Queen Daredjane, the wife of King Irakli II. She had a palace built there in 1784 .

The queen had the small church of the Transfiguration (Peritsvaleba) built next to it. The building was severely damaged by the Persians in 1795 but it was restored. The place is charming, overlooking Tbilisi. The small palace is not open to the public, but it can be seen from the church.
