The new Tyumen railway station was built in 1974 and is a beautiful modern building made of granite and marble. The square next to the station is called Privokzalnaya, which means "near the station". In 1976 a Palace of Culture was built there for the railway workers of the region. Today the building has two auditoriums, a library, a sports hall and thirty-six workrooms.
