Kungur, population 65 284, is situated at the km 1535 of the Trans-Siberian Railway, near Perm and Ekaterinburg. The city is famous all over the world for its outstanding natural heritage. Its cavities are a delight for both amateur and experienced speleologists, including the world-famous ice cave, protected by UNESCO. Ancient merchant city, Kungur, several times occupied, destroyed and rebuilt, prospered thanks to the tea trade. You will discover a historic town centre full of panache, reminiscent of the great flourishing merchants of the 18th and 19th centuries. Since 2002, it has organised the no less famous international hot-air balloon festival. A city of nature and history, well served by road and train, it is one of the pearls of the Urals!
