Nytva, named after the river that crosses it, has a population of 18 366 and is situated 70 km west of Perm. The town was first mentioned in 1623. In 1756 the powerful Stroganov industrialists built a copper smelter - Nytvenski Zavod - here, which was transformed some 10 years later into an ironworks. Equipment was produced there for the shipyards in the surrounding area. This factory still exists today. Since 1938, Nytvensky Zavod has also housed a production unit for spoons of excellent quality, to which Nytva owes its national reputation. Dozens of cutlery models are also manufactured here. From Perm you can reach Nytva by bus (about 2.5 hours).
