On the south-eastern tip of the island, the small fishing community of no more than 500 souls is served by the Bahamas Fast Ferries three times a week. People come here for fishing or for absolute rest on a paradisiacal island, almost alone in the world. The inhabitants of Sandy point are very welcoming and if you are lucky enough to come on a Sunday, you will have the pleasure of discovering the whole population in ceremonial dress for the weekly mass. It's just opposite Sandy Point that Disney Studios bought Gorda Cay, a small private island that serves as a stopover for the Disney Cruise line liners.
