QURAYYAT FORT
Built in the 19th century to defend the town of Qurayyat and guarded by two old Portuguese-made cannons, the fort stands beside the souk, along the main road that runs through the town. Restored, it is typical of the defensive structures dotting the coast of Oman, with high crenellated walls and a round watchtower. The kitchen, living rooms and artifacts are all in their rightful place, allowing you to imagine the life of the inhabitants in days gone by. Note the beauty of the front door, the vessels from China and the chest "made in Zanzibar".
