The market of Barcelos is undoubtedly the most colorful and one of the most important markets in Portugal. Farmers from the neighboring villages sell their products: pottery, crockery, lace, baskets, food... and of course the famous roosters. On Thursdays, market day, we go to this restaurant with a rich past. It is the meeting place of the exhibitors. Typical atmosphere guaranteed and tasty regional gastronomy: papas de sarrabulho, mão de cabrito assada no forno, rojões à moda do Minho, broa de milho (bread) and home-made desserts.

This old tasca, renovated and pleasant, offers good regional dishes: cold cuts, caldeirada de cabrito,cozido à portuguesa. Not to mention the arroz de frango, a marvel. The wine list is not necessarily necessary since you can accompany your dishes with vinho verde from the barrel. Trust the waiter who knows the menu by heart. Friendly atmosphere that pleases both locals and tourists. We will finish with one of the excellent homemade desserts before continuing the visit of the city. Attentive service.

In an old tasca, come to find and taste the quality of yesteryear! Here, the dishes are hearty: arroz de feijão vermelho com bolinhos de bacalhau (rice and red beans with cod fritters) or feijoada à minhota (stew)... But cabrito assado(roasted kid) and cozido à portuguesa (a kind of stew) are the best successes for those who like meat. We make sure to leave a little room for the excellent pastries! A treat, an excellent moment, an impeccable service. We go there (and we return there) without hesitation.

A restaurant that is unanimously acclaimed by its loyal customers, who come back again and again. The Tunel dos Sabores (Tunnel of Flavors) offers fine regional cuisine. The dishes are gourmet and the choice of meats and fish accompanied by fried potatoes and vegetables is of the highest quality. Superb welcome from attentive staff. Good wine list. For vegetarians, you'll have to look mainly at the starters. And let's not forget the tasty desserts (Tatin-style apple tart, scoop of ice cream...).
