A friendly place at any time of the day where you can walk and enjoy the many bars and terraces in Guimaraes.

According to tradition, it was in this square that the Virgin Mary was laid down by the apostle Saint James. For many centuries, historical writings have referred to this medieval and popular square. It was here that the companions of the Duke of Burgundy settled when they came to help Henriques repel the Moorish invader. Today, it is a friendly place at any time of the day. You can walk around and enjoy the many bars and terraces. In the evening, the square is very popular with the students who make it lively.

C’est la grande place de Guimarés ou se concentrent les bars, restaurants, monuments et lieu de rencontres pour la jeunesse. On peut se promener à travers les arcades et se détendre au milieu des nombreuses terrasses aménagées. Endroit de rassemblement et d’animation avec des concerts de tout style …
Emplacement de nombreux monuments à visiter : Eglise, chapelle, musée etc.…

Tout est concentré sur cette place, les arcades de l'ancien hôtel de ville, l'église Nossa Senhora da Oliveira et des bars et restaurants. Plus loin, on peut découvrir le Palais des Ducs de Bragance et le Château de Guimaraes. Cette ville a une âme très agréable. Prenez le temps d'y flâner. A partir de Guimaraes, un téléphérique (comme ceux des stations de ski) vous emmène au Mont Penha, de là, la vue est superbe sur la ville (sujets à vertiges s'abstenir).

The Santiago town square is now a friendly place at any time of the day. You can stroll and enjoy the various bars/restaurants and their terraces. In the evening the place changes and is invaded by young people who make the atmosphere, very nice this place.
