The Tapada dos Condes de Avillez is a public garden in the historic center of Santiago do Cacém, created in the early 20th century. Originally conceived as a romantically inspired botanical garden, the Tapada houses several restored buildings. The main entrance is through the old town gate. Here you'll find the pretty St. George's Chapel, built in 1902 in memory of the third and fourth Counts of Avillez. Nearby is the Jardim das Aromáticas.
