The Bairro da Mouraria, in the heart of the historic center of Moura, is the old Arab quarter. It was built by the Muslim inhabitants of the city who had the courage to stay in Portugal after the reconquest. It is the largest preserved Moorish neighborhood in Portugal. It is concentrated around four streets, much narrower than the others, forming a kind of medina. They are very lively during the day, because the neighborhood is always popular. A nice walk with the feeling, sometimes, of being in North Africa.
