The island of Tavira, with its long dune-lined beaches, is a very pleasant place to stop off and attracts a lot of people in summer, including young people.
To reach the island of Tavira, go to the Quatro Aguas pier or Rua Jose Pires Padinha in the center and take the boat that crosses the lagoon. On the island, follow the path that leads to the long beaches lined with dunes. There are many restaurants and bars on the beach. Although the island is a very pleasant place to stop, it is very crowded in the summer and you will have to find a place in the sun among the towels. At night, you will have the island to yourself, except for the young campers. Also accessible on foot from the small village of Santa Luzia.
