Perched atop its cliff, it seems to mark the end of a world. By rushing into it, we have a vague impression of leaving the planet earth for an unknown universe. Initially built in the 15th century, redesigned according to Vauban's constructions in the 18th century, it was disfigured in the 20th century by a concrete block for trading. The mosaic compass rose is said to date from the time of Henry the Navigator and to have served as an instrument for the nautical school he founded in Sagres.

PASSE LA PORTE D'ENTREE UNE GRANDE COUR ET D'UN COTE UNE EGLISE NOSSA SENHORA DA GRACA. EN FAIRE LE TOUR INTERIEUREMENT CONSTITUE UNE BELLE ET LONGUE BALLADE AVEC DES VUES SUPERBES SUR L'OCEAN ATLANTIQUE

Visite incontournable et ce n'est pas le prix (peu onéreux) à payer qui vous rebutera. C'est justement rénové et accueillant, beau parcours avec sentier et panneaux explicatifs du site (même en français, certains).

A voir a l'ouest de l'Algarve
Si vous passez dans le sud ouest du Portugal, en direction du cap saint Vincent, vous pouvez faire une halte dans ce lieu imposant. Cette forteresse se voit de loin. Cependant, ce que j'ai préféré dans ce lieu, c'est la vue qui surplombe l'océan.

à voir sans faire de détour...
La forteresse en elle même n'a rien d'extraordinaire, par contre très beau panorama jusqu'à la pointe, où on peut voir des pêcheurs de l'extrême, lancer leurs lignes à plus de 70m de haut ! Sentier bien aménagés et protégés. tarif : 3€

Forteresse qui n'a rien d'exceptionnelle mais le lieu est magnifique : falaise, océan… Nous avons assisté à un très beau coucher de soleil. Par contre beaucoup de vent, prévoir des vêtements adaptés.
