An enchanting and idyllic place for glampingenthusiasts and for those who enjoy a romantic and luxurious "slow life". Located on the shores of Lake Ihema, this intimate eco-lodge has nine fully-equipped safari tents, nestled in unspoiled vegetation, set far apart from each other and connected by a wooden walkway on stilts. All of them offer a view of the lake, and exude an atmosphere of absolute serenity. The camp is solar powered and fenced. A place to connect to oneself and to the essential.

You will be closely surrounded by wildlife as you stay in one of the tents. Monkeys are frequent visitors. Hippos wade in the waters just a few meters away. The tents are raised to protect from potential incursion from hippos. It’s safe. Location is beautiful with views of the lake and its surroundings. The northern part of the Akagera park (two hours away) is where most of the animals are though. Probably why the Wilderness property there goes for over $2K/night.

Wonderful and helpful staff. They go out of their way to please travelers.

Good is fantastic. Take advantage of the lakeside deck. Apply lots of Deet. :-)

Tents are adequately furnished although by no means luxurious. You are paying for access to the park and not for the quality of the accommodation.

Expect basically zero internet through WiFi. We had none at the tent. 20Mb down near the reception using their employee WiFi.
