This building, built in 1969 by the Italian architect Gio Ponti, reflects the power and interest of the city
This building, which houses the most famous department store in the Netherlands, is one of the city's symbols. Built in 1969 by the Italian architect Gio Ponti, it reflects the city's power and interest. The building is composed of green ceramic tiles to be in phase with the dominant colour of the surrounding nature but also for its resistance to humidity. Note that the 3rd floor is a false facade and was thus placed for possible expansion. The building is distinguished by its great modernity, particularly visible at night.
