SANDBAAI

Nestled between the ocean and the dizzying Onrust Mountain, Sandbaai is the district of Hermanus where the new port of the city is located, south of the historic centre. It is from here that most of the boats that criss-cross the bay in search of whales depart. It's a nice place to stroll around, there are a few restaurants on the docks. Sandbaii preserves its heritage and wishes to keep its gravel roads so as not to damage or distort the surrounding landscape. Just behind Sandbaai, the village of Hemel-en-Aarde is very lively.
