Bernard Podlashuk bought the field in 1943 and was the creator of the first dry wines of South Africa. From 1951, it launches a dry rosé based on pinotage in a vaulted bottle similar to that of Provence rosé. In 1953, appears the first big vintage, a generic name today for the dry whites. In 1958, "Pod" creates the johannisberger, a half-dry that still appears at the top of sales in this sector in South Africa.
