VOLVIC STONE CAVE
The Grotte de la Pierre de Volvic invites you to discover a hollowed-out gallery, with a subterranean trail featuring light effects.
In 2022, part of the scenography was renewed with new visual and technical effects, but the end of 2023 also brought its share of novelties! For the festive season, the old quarry was transformed into Santa's workshop, with stunning sets, visual and sound effects, and a CGI film. The installation of some fifteen additional spotlights brings more light, and smoke projectors make the discovery even more immersive. Building on this new experience, the grotto will change its face once again in 2024. La Grotte des Lumières, a narrative and moving show, allows visitors to discover an enchanted universe, connecting the cave to the natural elements. Young and old alike follow the adventures of a little otter named Volvis, who wants to bring the cave back to life. In an atmosphere of plants and water, spectators are transported into a world filled with magic and legends. The original 1h15 historical tour continues to be offered alternately. This plunges you right into the heart of the gallery dug into a lava flow from the puy de la Nugère, mined for Volvic stone since the 13th century. Visitors follow a self-guided tour through five stages, featuring videos, animated objects, lighting effects and sound narration, to discover the world of quarry workers at the beginning of the 20th century.

l'ensemble est adapté aux visites en famille.
Et je parle en connaissance de cause, mon grand père possédait une carrière de lave de Volvic pour produire des laves émaillées.
