Volvic is, without a doubt, one of the most famous communes of the department. Without mentioning it too much, it is difficult to overlook its natural mineral water, the object of chauvinism of the Auvergne people. Volvic is also known for this superb black stone, quarried as early as the 12th century, which is honoured in a house fully dedicated to it. The town also surprises by the diversity of its heritage, its narrow streets lined with stone buildings, fountains, 12th century feudal castle, Romanesque church, Marcel-Sahut museum, testimony of a long artistic and craft activity. It stretches over some thirty kilometres, surrounded by numerous hamlets, benefiting from a remarkable natural heritage. It is one of the gateways to the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, and includes a regional nature reserve and a sensitive natural area. Thanks to the Société des eaux de Volvic and the Michelin company, many people of all origins have settled here. Its quality sports facilities and rich cultural season always make it attractive to new occupants.
