With some 12 million inhabitants, including 1 to 2 million illegal immigrants, Ho Chi Minh City is more populated than the capital, Hanoi. Although it does not yet have the classic size of most East Asian megacities, there is no doubt that Ho Chi Minh City will experience growth over the next 20 years that will require the resolution of many problems in terms of development, environment, infrastructure and investment.
The different districts of Saigon are all imbued with a rather specific atmosphere: the new Saigon, with its contemporary architecture and luxury boutiques, the colonial Saigon, the Saigon of the Americans, or Cholon, the Chinese city. Day and night, the atmosphere of Saigon is that of a mythical city. To be discovered by bicycle, on foot, on the port or along Dông Khoi street, not forgetting the gastronomic breaks!
