This Roman aqueduct of the 1st century AD located at the entrance of the old city has 128 arches
This is the superb symbol of the city, the image of Epinal of Segovia, located at the entrance to the old city. This Roman aqueduct dating from the 1st century AD carried water over a distance of 15 km. The granite blocks that make it up are not joined by any mortar. It is 850 m long, 28.50 m high and has 128 arches. It was fully restored in the 1990s, when pollution seriously affected it. On a central pillar, a Virgin of Carmen was placed in a niche that was probably originally intended for a pagan god.
