MUSEO DE LEÓN

If you can't find refuge in the former pilgrims' hospital, now home to a 5-star parador, don't miss visiting its magnificent salons and this small museum installed in the cloister and sacristy. The centrepiece is the Christ of Carrizo (11th century), finely carved in ivory. The museum's collections retrace all the stages of human activity in León, from the Palaeolithic to the present day. Thus, traces of Romanisation and the Middle Ages can be found, in addition to the numismatic and epigraphic sections.
