The old town of Alburquerque has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and is dominated by the medieval Luna Castle, dating from the 13th-15th centuries. The castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding area on clear days. At its foot is the parish church of Santa María del Mercado, a fine example of 15th-century Mudejar architecture. Alburquerque also boasts other interesting monuments, such as the 13th-century Reliquias hermitage and the 16th-century San Mateo church. A stroll through the town also reveals a wealth of civil architecture, including the 17th-century Casa de l'Audiencia and Casa de la Nieve.
