Statue Park, an address for discovering all the old statues erected to the glory of communism in Budapest.
What was to become of the larger-than-life Stalin and Lenin in the wake of the regime change? Rather than reduce the statues to rubble, it was decided to turn them into a park on the outskirts of Budapest. Today, Memento Park offers visitors the chance to discover the statues that graced the streets of Budapest before the fall of communism. In 2023, Europa Nostra, a European network for heritage protection, listed the Statue Park as an "endangered heritage site". It could therefore receive funding from the European Investment Bank.

Memento Park is a museum located in Budapest. This special and unique attraction plunges you into the era of Communism through its exhibits and sculptures. It houses 41 monuments representing emblematic figures of the dictatorship, including Lenin, Marx and Engels, Béla Kun and Captain Ostapenko. You'll also discover works evoking " Hungarian-Soviet friendship " and "Liberation". Guided tours are also available , offeringinteresting anecdotes (Lenin's hat, Stalin's boots, the Iron Curtain ...) .Group activities include treasure hunts, board games, quizzes and the Trabanto challenge. During your visit, don't forget to experience a trip back in time in its emblematic Trabant. This original car, which was the means of transport for middle-class families at the time, will give you areal feel for the atmosphere of "existing socialism" .This exciting venue is one of the city's most popular destinations. Trabant-transfert: Be smart and stylish! Get to Memento Park by Trabant. The transfer is available seven days a week, during Memento Park's normal opening hours and beyond, for individuals and groups.

TRABANT COMBO TOUR
Complement your Trabant transfer with a guided tour during Memento Park opening hours and beyond! The Trabant will take you to other sites on request, such as the Ecseri flea market or the sites commemorating the 1956 uprising. You can also have big dreams - we'll try to make them come true :).
Visit to the 1956 revolution memorial: The program takes you to the emblematic sites of the 1956 revolution, such as Corvin Alley, where the Soviet Red Army suffered its first defeat, Kossuth Square, site of the shooting, and plot 301 of the new public cemetery, where the martyrs of the uprising rest in peace. For those who have never been, we recommend adding a guided tour of Memento Park.
Workers' Movement Tour: This tour heads for the cemetery on Via Fiume. Here we visit the Pantheon of the Workers' Movement, the tomb of János Kádár, former General Secretary of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party, and other important Communist figures. Along the way, we'll stop off at a socialist building to discover its advantages and behind-the-scenes features. A visit to Memento Park is a must for those who have never been there.
Visit the Ecseri flea market: The Ecseri flea market is a miraculous place! You never know what you'll find, which is why it's always worth a visit. Bric-à-brac, vintage jewelry, retro accessories and furniture, albums, posters, paintings... Arrive by Trabant for vintage shopping, haggle and enjoy!

Les statues géantes sont intéressantes à regarder et incitent en même temps à la réflexion. Plutôt pour les personnes intéressées par l'histoire
Un peu excentré, mais facilement accessible en bus.
J'aurais aimé que les noms des rues communistes en Hongrie restent les mêmes ! Ils font tous partie de l'histoire après tout ! Changer les noms n'enlève rien à ce qui s'est passé !
