Tree-lined cemetery with remarkable mausoleums of great figures in Hungarian history and beautiful tombs of Jewish notables.

Great figures of Hungarian history have gigantic mausoleums in this large wooded cemetery that seems to have grown in nature. You can wander from neoclassical mausoleum to more modest tombs. A must-see: the tombs of Lajos Kossuth, Lajos Batthyány, the mausoleum of Ferenc Deák, and that of Ganz. Jewish cemetery much further away (Izraelita temető, Salgótarjáni út), with beautiful graves of Budapest Jewish notables.

Un cimetière tout à fait remarquable avec des monuments funéraires grandioses. Un lieu paisible et très émouvant où l'on retrouve les noms de personnages hongrois illustres.

Un endroit hors du temps,véritable panthéon hongrois car tout ce qui compte comme célébrité hongroise est enterré ici (hommes politiques, écrivains, actrices...). C'est vrai qu'il y a peu de noms connus hors de Hongrie, mais une simple promenade dans cet immense jardin de sculptures à ciel ouvert est vraiment magnifique car c'est un cours d'art en plein air avec des tombes aux styles très éclectiques et parfois aux mausolées vraiment impressionnants (celle de Kossuth par exemple). Li'déal est d'être accompagné par un guide ou un ami hongrois qui donnera du sens à votre promenade!
