BOCSKAI MUSEUM
Museum displaying photos of Hajduk villagers and military memorabilia in Hajdúszoboszló. Worth a visit.
This museum offers a rich collection on local history and the haïdouk community, which has lived in the region since the 17th century. Photographs of the daily life and traditions of these villagers are on display. There are also military memorabilia, weapons and historical objects testifying to the important role played by these warriors in the defense of the region. Haiduks, or hajdú in Hungarian, were considered brigands by the Turks. They were irregular Hungarian soldiers charged with defending the kingdom against the Ottomans.
