PLACE DUGONICS (DUGONICS TÉR)
Remarkable square housing the statue of the writer András Dugonics and the central university building in Szeged.
Before the floods of 1879, it was the site of the large grain market. A statue of the writer András Dugonics stands on the boulevard side. He is holding a book, his work Etelka, one of the first novels written in the Hungarian language. This square is also the site of the central university building, where the poet Attila József was tried for his subversive poem À cœur pur, published in the local newspaper. Strollers, students and tourists alike can be found here.
