Szeged is home to a remarkable octagonal tower, one of the few remaining vestiges of the century.
Octagonal in shape, it is one of the few remains of the 12th century. "The Dömötör Tower is very close to my heart. It has survived the Tatars, King Mátyás, the Dózsa György uprising and the Turks, the Dugonics witch trials, the War of Independence and finally the Great World War. It will certainly outlive us all, bearing witness to all its millennia of long life." (Gyula Juhász, 1928.) To be observed in all its nooks and crannies.
