A masterpiece of the Secession style (Hungarian Art Nouveau), this astonishing building was constructed in 1902 by architect Géza Márkus, a pupil of the famous Ödön Lechner. It is decorated with majolica tiles with stylized flower motifs from the Zsolnay factory in Pécs. Other architectural elements are of Transylvanian or Islamic inspiration. Today, the Cifra palota houses several temporary and permanent exhibitions.
