FERENC KUBINYI MUSEUM
Museum dedicated to Ferenc Kubiny, politician and paleontologist, with a fine historical and archaeological collection.
The Ferenc Kubinyi Museum, housed in the Fogách family's former yellow-and-white Baroque residence, pays tribute to Ferenc Kubinyi (1796-1874), nobleman, politician and paleontologist. A lawyer and reformist deputy, he supported the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-49. Exiled after the defeat, he devoted himself to science, exploring the fossils of Ipolytarnóc and the basalt formations of Somoskő and Salgó. The museum displays its historical, archaeological and scientific collections in this magnificent stucco-decorated mansion. Worth a visit.
