CASTLE OF HOLLÓKŐ (HOLLÓKŐI VÁR)
A ruined castle with a few exhibition rooms, a site offering a remarkable panoramic view of the region.
Hollókő Castle, built in the 13th century to defend against Tatar invasions, dominates the valley from the top of its rocky spur. Although partially in ruins, it retains imposing walls, a number of exhibition rooms and an accessible tower offering superb panoramic views over the region. In summer, the castle becomes a lively place with historical and theatrical shows, notably during the Saint Étienne festival, when medieval traditions are brought to life on stage.
