This is THE grand hotel in Sopron. The former Aranyszarvas (Golden Stag) inn, once located in this strategic position on the Vienna-Budapest road, was destroyed by fire in the 18th century. To perpetuate the tradition of welcoming travelers, a majestic hotel was built in 1893, designed by Sopron's most famous architect at the time. Restoration work, completed in 1992, has preserved the imposing late 19th-century decor and the cachet of the Biedermeier rooms. A fine address with a service worthy of the name.
