LA ESQUINA DE BUENOS AIRES
Petit Futé's opinion on LA ESQUINA DE BUENOS AIRES
Lovers of smooth Argentine grilled meats and good wines, here you are at the right place. Located in a small restored house dating from the late 19th century, this restaurant, run by an Argentinean for fifteen years, is by far one of the best restaurants in the capital. Owner Javier Peire wanted to recreate the atmosphere of Argentine restaurants of the 1940s, and it's very successful; the retro decoration, photos of Argentine personalities in black and white (Julio Cortazar, Maradona and even Mafalda) as well as candlelight immediately plunge you into another era in the heart of Buenos Aires in the past. A deliciously romantic atmosphere enhanced by tango tunes. As for the dishes, everything is delicious there, starting with empanadas; and the meat is good to be damned! Especially since they are perfectly sauced (Malbec or Roquefort in particular!). At the end of the meal, give in to the temptation of the flambéed apple pancake, the house's speciality. The card will satisfy all requirements! An excellent address.
