JIAXIU TEMPLE
Temple built under the Min dynasty, featuring an exhibition of beautiful calligraphy
Standing on a rock in the middle of the Nanming River, this elegant temple was built in 1598 during the Ming dynasty. It is dedicated to the Chinese intellectuals who passed the imperial examinations. Jiaxiu means "to pass the imperial examinations". This traditional 20-metre-high temple is one of the city's main attractions. In the evening, when night falls, it is fully illuminated with red lanterns, transforming it into an enchanting tableau. A stone bridge leads to the temple, which offers a breathtaking view of the city.
