LIUHOU TEMPLE AND PARK
Park in the heart of the city, home to a temple dedicated to Liu Zongyuan, a great thinker and politician in the Tang dynasty
Located in downtown Liuzhou, Liuhou Park is home to a temple dedicated to Liu Zongyuan, a great thinker, writer and politician of the Tang dynasty (618-907). Liu Zongyuan was appointed governor of Liuzhou, where he carried out many beneficial deeds. Three years after his death in 819, the people of Liuzhou erected the Luochi Temple in his honor, later renamed Liuhou Temple. The temple, located in the heart of the park, is a sober building featuring bronze statues of Liu Zongyuan. The park covers some 15.52 hectares.
