FIVE PHOENIX FLAG
Large pagoda-shaped pavilion at the rear of the old town, with a magnificent view of the entire old town
This pavilion, the jewel in the crown of the Black Dragon Pond Park, is reflected in the water against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks. Created in 1601 and relocated here in the 1970s, it owes its name to its curved roof evoking five phoenixes. Its architecture is a harmonious blend of Han, Tibetan and Naxi styles. Set beside the pond, surrounded by pine trees, it's one of Lijiang's most photographed landscapes. There are a number of exhibitions inside, but the main attraction is its silhouette.
