BOTANICAL GARDENS

Located in the south of Shanghai, the botanical gardens present many varieties of trees and several greenhouses of exotic plants and flowers. Many floral exhibits are held during the year and that of the peonies in April is particularly famous. Just next door you can see a little temple dedicated to Huang Daopo. Built in 1728, it was built in memory of this man who is supposed to have launched the textile industry in Shanghai after importing the know-how from Hainan Island.
