Kalbarri is a charming little town of 2,000 souls at the mouth of the Murchison River, 70% of which was devastated by Cyclone Seroja in 2021, which also affected Northampton. Since then, rebuilding has progressed well and the area has regained its appeal. Apart from the wildflowers and whale watching in the Australian spring, the main attraction is the famous Kalbarri National Park, a must-see. From Geraldton, 4.5 km before Kalbarri, turn right into the National Park towards the high coastal cliffs. Here you'll find beautiful vantage points such as Natural Bridge, Island Rock and Rugged Cliffs. Keep your hats on and watch out for the wind, which is violent on this part of the coast, and the insatiable flies.
