A pretty little market town of just under a thousand inhabitants, some 50 km north of Geraldton. Several old buildings, including the church and convent, are of interest. Nearby Northampton is the now-defunct principality of Hutt River, which declared itself independent in 1970 and, although not officially recognized, maintained its capital, Nain, its own currency and postage stamps until 2020, and its Foreign Office issued over 45,000 passports! To reach Kalbarri, take the Port Gregory Road, a tourist route from Northampton that takes you to Pink Lake.
