The Super Pit gold mine produces 85,000 ounces (2.4 t) of gold a year. From this vantage point, you can appreciate its dimensions: 3.6 km long, 1.5 km wide and 500 m deep. What you can see: super-big trucks and super-big diggers harvesting huge quantities of gold! While you're in Kalgoorlie, try and catch one of the giant underground explosions, a guaranteed thrill. Schedules can be found on the Super Pit website, but beware, they change frequently. Guided tours of the mine every day.
