A former signal station in the hills above Hobart offering panoramic views of the city, Storm Bay...
Located on the heights of Hobart, this former signal station offers a panoramic view of the city, the Derwent River and as far as Bruny Island and Storm Bay. It was the first signal station built in Tasmania in 1811. Signs provide information on semaphore signalling, station life and early expeditions to the Hobart area. The mountain was named in 1872 by Captain William Blight, the commander of the famous Bounty, after his ship's botanist, David Nelson.
