Treat yourself to a historical immersion in Australia's oldest surviving theater! Located near the harbor, Hobart's Theatre Royal was built by convicts between 1834 and 1837. Many international performers have performed here - from the famous French mime and actor Marcel Marceau to the multiple Oscar-winning American actor Laurence Olivier. The latter even came in person to protest the demolition of the theater in 1940. It still hosts plays, musicals and ballets today.
