HOPE COTTAGE MUSEUM
Museum dedicated to depicting life in the 1860s, offering a glimpse of Kangaroo Island's unique history and heritage.
Immerse yourself in the island's history with a visit to this museum, housed in one of its first stone houses, built in 1859 by the Calnan brothers. The site features an eclectic collection: farm machinery, period domestic equipment, communications equipment, maritime and aviation artefacts, including artefacts from the SS Karatta, a ship that served the island for over 50 years in the XXᵉ century. Don't miss the fully reconstructed Masonic lodge room and the original lantern from Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, South Australia's first lighthouse.
