Cunnamula is an Aboriginal word meaning "long stretch of water". Established as a local watering hole, this small town has preserved its old-world charm. For a long time, the economy here was based on wool, and until the middle of the 20thcentury , world demand held up and the town grew. But from 1960 onwards, recurrent droughts and competition from synthetic materials slowed demand. Today, the town is trying to diversify its economy by turning to tourism. The Cunnamulla Fella festival gives you a taste ofoutback life, with rodeo, local markets, music... It's all there!
