This site includes the Riversleigh Information Centre and the Riversleigh Fossil Centre (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994), which has uncovered enough fossils to trace the evolution of mammals in Australia over the past 25 million years. You will find giant emus and wombats, carnivorous kangaroos and crocodiles capable of climbing trees. The centre also houses the Isa Experience Gallery, which traces the history of Mount Isa from the discovery of the deposits to the painful beginnings of the city's expansion and development. Varied and interactive approach. A tour will introduce you to the daily life of miners: the Hard Times Mine Underground Tour. An underground visit, where you can try out the air leg drill, a kind of jackhammer used to extract ore.
