The Savannah Way connects Cairns to the pearl city of Broome in Western Australia. From Cairns to Normanton, the road covers 715 km (only for Queensland) and crosses a wide variety of landscapes: dense rain rain on the coast, and then gentle grassy plateaus of the Tablelands mountains lying to the vast expanses of the Gulf of Carpenteria. Beyond the apparent uniformity of the plain, you will discover unexpected rocky gorges, arid plains, mangroves and marshes.Council: before you start your adventure, find out about the state of the roads at RACQ and contact the Information Office. Also visit the site (www.savannahway.com.au).
