The Savannah Way connects Cairns to the pearl city of Broome in Western Australia. From Cairns to Normanton, the road covers 715 km (only for Queensland) and crosses a wide variety of landscapes: dense rain rain on the coast, and then gentle grassy plateaus of the Tablelands mountains lying to the vast expanses of the Gulf of Carpenteria.
