An ambitious project to build 16 dams, 7 power plants and 145 km of tunnels.

The Snowy Mountains Scheme was carried out from 1949 to 1974. This ambitious project allowed, in sometimes extreme climatic conditions, to build 16 dams, 7 power plants and 145 kilometers of tunnels in the Snowy Mountains to produce electric energy and irrigate the interior of the country.
