OPME CASTLE
At the foot of Gergovie, an château remodeled in the century, with formal gardens and a museum dedicated to Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny.
This fortress once controlled the pass used by the Roman road linking Clermont to Le Puy. Built at the end of the 11th century, the château belonged first to the Counts, then to the Dauphins of Auvergne. It was remodeled in the 17th century by Antoine de Ribeyre, who created the formal gardens in 1613. Awarded the " Jardins remarquables" label, they are home to century-old lime trees and a Renaissance fountain attributed to Androuet du Cerceau. Only a few rooms in the building are accessible, as are the gardens. A museum dedicated to Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny is housed here.

Nous avons été accueilli par un charmant Monsieur et sa maman qui nous ont expliqué toute son histoire. Nous avons ensuite pu profiter de la visite et elle en vaut le détour.
