FIESTA DE LA VIRGEN DE LA CONCEPCION

This Christian festival, which has existed since the Middle Ages, takes place on December 8. This beautiful and important tribute to the patron saint of the island of El Hierro is celebrated every four years. The evening before, crowds flock to the streets of Villaverde for the procession, during which dancers dressed in traditional red and white garb and multicolored bonnets parade through the town, hoisting banners bearing the effigy of the "Virgin of Kings".
