CASTELLO

This is one of the main places you can visit on Kythera. The castle offers panoramic views of all sides of the island. To the west of Avlemonas, the area was sensitive and prone to possible pirate attacks. In the ^18th century, the Venetians built the "castello", an octagonal-shaped fortress overlooking the harbor. The south face of the monument features a coat of arms with the lion of St. Mark, symbol of the Venetian Republic. Leave your car at the parking lot and take a leisurely stroll using the QR codes.
