MONASTERE PANORMITIS
Monastery in the middle of a cove with church, library, restaurant and cells for rent.
The imposing monastery of St. Michael, situated in the middle of a cove, was founded in the 18th century. You can get there by road by bus (15 km from the capital) or by boat (1 hour). According to the legend, the monastery was built on the place where an old woman had found an icon of the saint. Inside the church, there are Byzantine mural paintings by two local artists and a carved wooden iconostasis. The monastery also has an interesting library and a restaurant, and rents cells to tourists.
